The Gretna Green Story Exhibition
Discover the story of Gretna Green, made famous by couples seeking to wed when 18th century English law prevented marriages under the age of 21 without parental consent. Many eloping couples fled across the border to get married at the famous Blacksmiths Shop under the ancient laws of Scotland where English law did not apply.
Gretna Green Sculpture Garden
Opened by actress Britt Eckland in 1994, the Gretna Green Sculpture Garden features works by amateur and professional artists celebrating romance and love. The Gretna Green lovers, for example, is one of the most well photographed 'couples' in Scotland!
Devil’s Porridge, Eastriggs
The Devil’s Porridge tells the story of the munitions workers from throughout the Empire who came to the area to help the war effort in World War I.
Tullie House Museum, Carlisle

Tullie House also features Pre-Raphaelite art, The Roman Frontier and the rooftop Lookout (20 minutes drive from the hotel).

There are many more attractions locally including Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle Castle, Caerlaverock Castle and the aviation museum in Dumfries.
Edinburgh can be reached easily by train, departing from either Lockerbie or Carlisle. Spend the day in Edinburgh without having the hassle of parking or spend the day in Glasgow - the train departs from Gretna Green.
